Our funding is focused on generating the most substantial impact in the developing world, steering and propelling transformational changes, and achieving an equitable 50:50 equilibrium between investments in mitigation and adaptation over time. Furthermore, the foundation firmly commits to allocating a minimum of 50 percent of adaptation funds to countries facing exceptional vulnerability, such as the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and African States.

The Philanthropic Foundation believes that Africa has the potential to emerge as a global leader in sustainable development. The continent's youthful, burgeoning population, its rich endowment of natural resources, and its commitment to sustainability underscore this potential. The promotion of Africa's sustainability is indispensable for achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
It is our pledge to work hand-in-hand with partners in Africa, offering substantial financial support of up to USD 100 million per year, to facilitate the continent's transition towards a more sustainable and prosperous future.

Africa faces a substantial sustainable financing gap estimated at USD 1.6 trillion until 2030.
To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, Africa necessitates an additional investment of approximately USD 194 billion annually.
Africa's inherent financial resources present a significant potential for sustainable development. In 2021, domestic government revenues reached USD 466 billion, equivalent to 17% of GDP. African institutional investors held assets valued at USD 1.8 trillion in 2020, equal to 73% of GDP.
Natural resources constitute crucial assets for African economies, with natural capital accounting for 19% of Africa's total wealth, surpassing Latin America and the Caribbean (7%) and developing Asia (3%).
The continent is poised for a robust economic resurgence, with an estimated real GDP growth rate of 3.7% in 2023, second only to developing Asia (5%) and surpassing Latin America and the Caribbean (1.6%).
Programme
We are currently working in 13 countries across Africa with more than 50 partners. We partner with financial service providers to innovate and trial novel business models and products, tailored to address the requirements of those organisations willing to move forward with their ESG strategies. In addition, we collaborate with entrepreneurs, universities, corporations, and investors to transform climate adaptation and mitigation strategies into scalable solutions. Promotion of Sustainable Practices and Carbon Offsetting
The Philanthropic Foundation is targeting countries in Africa with rapid economic and population growth that could lead to increased GHG emissions without sustainable practices. South Africa, the largest GHG emitter in Africa at over 33%, impacts neighboring countries and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), primarily due to its coal reliance. Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, Rwanda, and Namibia are highly vulnerable to climate change's impacts, with low-lying coastal areas at risk from rising sea levels and susceptibility to droughts and floods. Our initiatives serve a dual purpose by promoting sustainability while actively creating carbon sinks to offset emissions, aligning with rigorous ESG guidelines.
